To build partnerships that drive good business through sustainability
About PVB
We give PVB new life in industrial products
About PVB
PVB means PolyVinyl Butyral which was developed in the early 1930’s as interlayer for laminated glass and has been produced ever since by a select group of manufacturers worldwide. PVB resin is a non-toxic, non-corrosive product. It has excellent characteristics of transparence, insulation, film-forming properties and impacting resistance.
It has good tensile strength, adhesiveness, elasticity, and is free from inorganic and aliphatic acids. It also owns combination properties of light-proofness, freezing and aging resistance, etc.
PVB resin is not dissolvable in water but is soluble in organic solvents, such as alcohols, esters, ketones, benzene, and in mixed solvents like for example ethyl alcohol and aromatic hydrocarbons. The PVB film contains no chlorine or phthalates.
Our mission
We transform, create and innovate possibilities for the applications of recycled PVB worldvide
Our mission
To continue growth as the global leader in the transformation of damaged laminated glass, a former waste stream, into advanced sustainable materials that make industrial products more environmentally friendly, sustainable and consumer friendly.
Our history
How we got started
Our history
Shark Solutions was founded early 2005 based on an innovative idea to save laminated glass from having to be sent to the landfill.
After much R&D, the Shark Glass and PVB Separation technologies became further developed with patents in place and pending over many regions. These technologies are now fully proven solutions to keep laminated glass from landfills and transform it into a variety of high quality, sustainable raw materials for new products.
The company markets and sells the Shark Glass Separation System for the recycling of flat glass (safety glass, building glass and windshields). The glass cullet created from the process is used in various industries, while Shark Solutions provides an answer for the reprocessing of the PVB fractions, so the goal of zero waste is close to achievable.
When Shark Solutions processes the PVB fractions (from its own glass recycling production and from select other sources), it is transformed from a former waste stream into advanced raw materials suitable for many industries.
Shark Solutions does not make the end products, but our advanced recycled materials help make the end products more environmentally friendly.
The company has been recognized as a leader in the transformation of post-consumer laminated glass, and has received awards and recognition for its work.
Today, the company works with major industrial companies (with operations both in Europe and USA), and continues to improve its business and expend its capacity and capabilities.
Reducing carbon footprint through the creation of new post-consumer raw materials for circular economy products, lowering GHG emissions from its high quality glass cullet and moving closer to a zero waste solution is all in the ambitious plans to be the best and responsible company we can be.

Our impact
We create positive benefit by diverted millions of windshields from landfills, which allow us to produce sustainable glass raw materials that reduce an equal amount of natural resources being harvested from the earth. One ton of GHG emissions are reduced for every five tons of Shark glass cullet used.
The extracted PVB polymer (PolyVinyl Butyral) is transformed into advanced raw materials, replacing non-environmentally friendly raw materials in various industrial products such as: carpet, flooring, artificial grass, paints & coatings, plastics and more.
This helps industrial companies become less reliant on materials from petrochemicals/derived chemical materials and provides real and workable alternatives TODAY.
Working together with customers to address their specific needs allows increased compliance to their internal sustainability and environmental aims, and to be part of larger objectives, such as the European Union “Green Deal” and the 2050 goal of becoming climate neutral.
