We are proud to launch a new series of Starting Point Formulations designed to combine SharkDispersionSR2™ with various traditional binder technologies.

The new formulations make it possible to reduce the carbon footprint of interior paint systems while maintaining the performance characteristics expected from established binder systems.

For paint manufacturers looking for a practical and flexible implementation path, blending offers new opportunities to integrate recycled PVB-based binder technology into existing formulation strategies.

Developed for compatibility and flexibility

The new Starting Point Formulations are designed for compatibility with established binder technologies. This includes blends with:

• Pure Acrylic
• Styrene Acrylic
• Vinyl Acrylic
• Vinyl Acetate Ethylene (VAE)

Binder combinations were evaluated at dry-solid binder ratios of:

• 70:30
• 50:50
• 30:70

Various Pigment Volume Concentration (PVC) levels were also explored, covering both premium and economical interior wall paint formulations.

Comparable performance across key properties

Testing demonstrates that the SharkDispersionSR2™ can be blended successfully without compromising essential dry-film performance.

Across the tested systems, the formulations showed performance comparable to conventional references in:

• Storage stability
• Gloss levels
• Opacity
• Wet scrub resistance

For example, Styrene Acrylic blends with SharkDispersionSR2™ delivered wet scrub resistance results very similar to traditional binder systems across multiple blend ratios.

Significant carbon footprint reduction

For paint manufacturers interested in reducing fossil-based content incrementally, blended systems may offer a practical and less risk implementation path.

Compared to traditional binder chemistries, SharkDispersions™ can reduce carbon footprint to as little as one-third, and in some cases one-sixth, of conventional alternatives.
